Carson Wong, MD, FRCSC, FACS a double board certified urologist, is Chief Of Urology for University Hospital's Ahuja Medical Center, Medical Director, Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery for Parma Community General Hospital and Co-Director of Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery for SouthWest Urology,LLC. He specializes in the treatment of cancer (prostate and kidney), treatment and prevention of stone disease, urinary tract reconstruction (kidney), benign prostate hyperplasia and no-scalpel vasectomy.
Prior to joining SouthWest Urology,LLC, Wong has pioneered laparoscopic & robot-assisted cancer surgery and laser surgery for benign prostate hyperplasia in the South Central United States. Recognized for innovation and excellence in urologic care, he has collaborated with clinicians and researchers throughout the country and abroad, having 54 peer-reviewed manuscript publications and in excess of 300 abstract presentations at national and international meetings to his credit.
Wong is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC), Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Fellow of the American Society For Lasers In Medicine and Surgery and a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada. His clinical and academic excellence are reflected by his peer nominated inclusion in Castle Connolly, Inc.’s publication as one of America’s Top Doctors® from 2008 to 2012, inclusive and the Best Doctors in America® 2011-12 edition.
A native of Canada, Wong earned an undergraduate degree with distinction at Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, in 1991, and his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada, in 1995. He continued his education with a residency in Urology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where he served as Chief Resident in urology from 1999-2000. Following, he completed a Fellowship in Laparoscopic, Endourologic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Miami, Miami, Florida in 2001. Most recently, he served as Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center and Medical Director of the Center for Robotic Surgery at Oklahoma University Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is a reviewer for multiple journals and is an active member of the Endourological Society, the Canadian Urological Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Association for Cancer Research, Societé Internationale d' Urologie and the American Urological Association.
