Our Mission

The goal of The Women’s Connection is to increase community awareness of female urinary incontinence and disorders of the pelvic floor, and to establish these problems as real medical issues rather than accepting them as a normal part of the aging process. We aim to provide improved quality of life for females in all aspects of urologic health including physical, emotional/psychological, and sexual health. We strive to create an opportunity for women to be empowered and encouraged by each other, and by the successful treatment of a real widespread medical problem.

If your bladder or some other urological condition is holding you back from the things you love, the team at the Women’s Connection at SouthWest Urology are here to help you get your life back again.

Comprehensive Female Urology

For the treatment of women’s pelvic health conditions, the team of doctors and support staff at the Women’s Connection at SouthWest Urology are experts in treating various female pelvic health conditions. Our doctors understand the emotional, medical and physical aspects of female pelvic health issues and walk women through every step of their journey to better health.

Our team specializes in treating any and all urological disorders that a woman may have, such as: overactive bladder, incontinence (leaky bladder), prolapse (dropped bladder or other pelvic organ), cancer, infection, bladder disorders, bladder pain, neurogenic bladder (as may occur with multiple sclerosis), kidney stones, kidney cysts or masses, urethral disorders, and any other female urological issues.

Sacral Neuromodulation

Sacral Neuromodulation is a proven treatment option for bladder control and bowel control. More than 150,000 patients worldwide have received Sacral Neuromodulation for bladder control and bowel control.

Sacral Neuromodulation is delivered via the InterStim system. This implantable system sends electrical pulses to an area near the sacral nerve to modulate the neural activity that influences the behavior of the pelvic floor, lower urinary track, urinary and anal sphincters, and colon. Unlike oral medications that target the muscular component of bladder control, Sacral Neuromodulation offers control of symptoms through direct modulation of the nerve activity.

A distinct advantage of Sacral Neuromodulation is that it is tested for potential success prior to moving on to long-term therapy. The evaluation gives patients and physicians an opportunity to find out in as few as 3 to 7 days whether adequate symptom reduction is achieved.
